Tvrdos Winery, near Trebinje in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, near Dubrovnik and the Adriatic coast, is owned by an Orthodox monastery with over 500 years of winemaking tradition. The monastery has a 15th-century stone cellar for ageing Vranac in oak and a modern, high-tech cellar only ten metres away. The winery produces wines from local varieties like Vranac and Žilavka, as well as international grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, and exports to 15 countries, making it one of the most renowned in the region.
