Zsuzsa Toronyi- Managing Director
Zsuzsa is a seasoned international wine marketer, wine educator, also has an oenology MSc. She worked in the wine trade in Hungary as wine buyer and co-owned the largest WSET school before moving to London, where she managed the European marketing communication team for a major multinational company before returning to the wine industry.
She has been heading up Wine Communication and Wines of Hungary UK since 2019. She is also a DWWA and IWC judge.
Caroline Gilby MW – Managing Partner
Master of Wine, expert, wine writer, consultant specialising in Eastern Europe
Dr Caroline Gilby MW is a writer, speaker and consultant specialising in Central and Eastern Europe. Her first book The Wines of Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova won the Prix de L’OIV in 2020. Among other titles, she contributes to Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book, Oxford Companion to Wine, World Atlas of Wine, and Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopaedia. She also contributes on a freelance basis to Decanter, Jancisrobinson.com, Harpers and Revija Vino. Caroline is a highly regarded speaker and presenter and an international wine judge. She is panel chair for Central & Eastern Europe, Slovenia & Croatia, and the Balkans at Decanter World Wine Awards, chair of judging at Vinistra in Croatia, president of judging at Wine Vision by Open Balkan in Belgrade and panel chair at Balkan International Wine Competition. Caroline was the first foreigner to be awarded the title Friend of Hungarian Winemakers in 2018 and is member of the Confrérie of Tokaj. In 2019, she was appointed Vranec ambassador by Wines of Macedonia and Wine of Moldova awarded her a medal of gratitude. In 2022 she was awarded the title of Best Wine Personality in the Balkans and appointed Mavrud Ambassador. Prior to her career as a writer, Caroline spent seven years as a senior wine buyer with specific responsibility for quality control at Augustus Barnett off-licences and Bass group pubs and restaurants. Caroline continues to work as a wine consultant to UK retailers and provides technical consultancy to wineries. She holds a doctorate in plant biology and has been a Master of Wine since 1992.
