Clai is one of Croatia’s benchmark organic wineries, located in the hills of Istria near the Adriatic coast. Founded by Giorgio Clai in the late 1990s, and internationally recognised for its terroir-driven wines produced from native varieties such as Malvazija Istarska, Refošk, and Teran. Farming has always been certified organic, based on low yields, biodiversity, and minimal intervention in both in the vineyard and cellar. Fermentations are spontaneous, élevage is long and gentle, and the wines are bottled unfiltered, resulting in wines of texture, freshness, and ageing potential that also remain precise, clean, and free from faults, combining authenticity with genuine drinkability.
