Matalj Winery

Matalj Winery was established in 2008, born from the Mladenović Matalj family’s aspiration to craft premium wines founded upon the centuries-old viticultural tradition of Negotinska Krajina. Our vineyards – Kremenjača, Terasa, Bukovo, and Zemna – extend across a total area of 27 hectares and are situated within three distinct sub-regions. In the vineyards, we adhere to a minimal intervention approach, eschewing herbicides and irrigation, with a consistent practice of manual harvesting, prioritising the preservation of biodiversity within the vineyards themselves and the surrounding environment. Matalj Winery produces authentic wines from international varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc, alongside indigenous local varieties including Prokupac, Bagrina, Začinak, Četereška (Kadarka), and Black Tamjanika.
