Medea Winery works with more than 60 ha around Pula and Medulin towards the south of Istria. Indigenous grape varieties, especially Malvazija are a key focus both as a fresh and fruity style and the more complex, old-vineyard selection Montiron. Medea’s most notable vineyard is Punta Greca, Istria’s southernmost vineyard, that enjoys a prime location overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. There, the combination of mild Mediterranean climate and unique soil composition – layers of clay, red soil, sand, volcanic ash, flint and iron oxide, overlying limestone just 1 metre below shapes the remarkable character of one of the world’s best Merlot wines.
