Slovakia is a winegrowing and winemaking reflection of Europe in miniature. It has an unexpectedly wide array of well-known, as well as completely new, unique varieties. It is a country of unlimited potential for white wines and offers a surprising variety of red wines. 90 % of wine is produced with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). The Slovak PDOs are: Malokarpatská, Južnoslovenská, Nitrianska, Stredoslovenská, Východoslovenská, Winegrowing region Tokaj. It is a country worth exploring with a wine glass in your hand. The combination of northerly climate and variable soil conditions, with professional management by qualified viticulturalists, produces high quality and engaging wines with a range of aromatics depending on variety. Wines from Slovakia typically have higher acidity, thanks to its cool continental climate, which adds freshness, sparkle and piquancy, and notable persistence.
